DESCRIPTION:
APW - Hamilton, Grade 992 with scarce two-tone damascene and "Adjusted For Railroad Service 21 Jewels" signed dial, 21J, 16S, gold-filled OF original case, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, two-tone checkerboard pattern gilt and nickel damascene, gilt mvt screws and regulator assembly, s#1531037. An attractive and desirable railroad marked watch; like nearly all known examples this movement has a secondary number (20044 in this instance) lightly scratched on the plate surface adjacent to the factory serial number.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, superb two-tone color and luster, short scratch near fourth wheel jewel setting, few small bits of mild oxide to winding wheels, regulator spring is a replacement of differing gilt tone; dial with tiny bit of fill material evident at the seating of its seconds-register at upper-right and some minuscule bits of fill material evident at seating of center section indicating re-securing of dial sections and suggesting possibility of this dial's outer chapter and/or seconds-register being replaced having come from another Hamilton dial as a donor, dial with very small surface nick to outer chapter at 2:30, some areas of perimeter rub under bezel; excellent hands; case shows very little wear, small shallow ding to lower-central rear, small nick to band at 6; tight bow, crown shows little wear; good glass crystal.
